If you’ve lived in Southwest Florida for more than five minutes, you know things are growing—fast.

Between new roads, retail centers, and massive residential projects, there’s a lot happening behind those construction fences. I’ve pulled together five of the biggest developments happening right now in Collier and Lee Counties—some you’ve probably heard of, and a few that might surprise you.

Here’s what’s coming, and what it might mean for your neighborhood.

1. I-75 and Collier Boulevard Flyover Project

📍 Collier County | 🛠 Completion: Summer 2026

Anyone who’s driven this stretch during season knows—it gets rough.

The Florida DOT is investing $97 million to revamp the I-75 and Collier Boulevard (SR 951) interchange. This includes:

  • Rebuilding the southbound and northbound ramps

  • Constructing a new flyover ramp from Collier Blvd to I-75

  • Improving flow near Beck Boulevard

This project will ease congestion, help daily commuters, and could potentially raise home values nearby.

2. Costco Coming to Southeast Naples

📍 Hacienda Lakes | 🛒 162,000+ sq. ft.

Costco fans, rejoice: the rumors are true.

Plans have been filed for a second Collier County location, in Southeast Naples near the Hacienda Lakes development. It will be larger than the current North Naples location and include a full gas station.

This is a big win for residents east of 951 and a sign that this part of Naples is rapidly expanding.

3. Amazon Fulfillment Center in Fort Myers

📍 Lee County (just north of Collier) | 🤖 750,000 sq. ft.

Amazon has purchased 143+ acres near SR 82 for a massive robotics fulfillment center. It's set to become Lee County’s largest industrial building, with construction beginning in 2025 and wrapping by 2027.

Even though it’s outside Collier, the job creation and economic ripple effects will definitely be felt in our communities.

4. Big Cypress: A Master-Planned East Collier Community

📍 East of Golden Gate Estates | 🏘 Three Villages in Development

Collier Enterprises is building a massive new community east of Golden Gate Estates, known as Big Cypress. It includes three separate villages:

  • Rivergrass (approved)

  • Longwater (approved)

  • Bellmar (paused due to environmental concerns)

This project will bring thousands of new homes to the area, and with it, new schools, roads, and infrastructure.

5. The Shoppes at Orange Blossom

📍 Oil Well Road & Big Corkscrew Dr. | 🏬 Opening: Late Summer 2025

A new retail plaza is underway at the entrance to Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park, near the Emblem at Orange Blossom apartments. Known as The Shoppes at Orange Blossom, this development by WMG will add much-needed shopping and dining options to one of the fastest-growing areas in the county.

More convenience is on the way for families and residents in this up-and-coming part of Naples.
